The public has been urged to remain vigilant regarding a TikTok account operating under the name "Ina," which is running scams by posting advertisements to rent out apartments and sell various goods.

In a post by the Police Anti-Scam Center, it stated that the account has been reported as one used to conduct scams through deception and fraud, and therefore requested the public to be cautious. Along with the post, the center shared a screenshot of the TikTok account.

The profile includes various promotional posts claiming to deliver fried breadfruit to any location in Malé and Hulhumalé, alongside multiple posts advertising apartments for daily lease.

The Anti-Scam Center stated that efforts are underway to locate the individual operating the account. Following the publication of the account's details by the scam center, the profile has now been made private. However, 297 people are still following the account.

The police center working to prevent scams also warned that they will track down individuals utilizing fake accounts across various social media platforms to commit criminal offenses, and will take all necessary legal actions against them. The public has been requested to stay safe from scams and to report any such noticed activities without delay.

As scam cases continue to rise in the Maldives, attempts were also made recently to defraud people of money from their accounts by sending links under the guise of Booking.com. That particular scam was carried out by claiming that individuals could apply for refunds by clicking on the provided link.
