Out of the students included in the first batch of the Maldivian National Service training program initiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to build youth, 137 students have completed the Maldivian military's basic training course.
In a post made on X today, President Muizzu stated that 137 students have graduated from the 72nd Military Basic Training Course, which was conducted for the youth who applied for military service during the opportunity opened to seek employment in various fields after completing the very first batch of the initial training of the Maldivian National Service.
It is a service started by the government to build a self-confident, ideologically strong, spiritually and physically healthy, Maldivian nationalism-loving, and responsible young generation. He noted that these are 137 students from 70 islands across 20 atolls of the Maldives.
"I congratulate all the participants who achieved various placements from this course. And I extend my highest praise and commendation to all the youth who applied for the noble service of the military," the President said.
Students who complete the National Service course are given the option to work in government institutions as well as private establishments.
Among the youth who completed the second batch of the National Service conducted by the MNDF, those participating in the technical training of the service departed for B. Kihaadhoo earlier this month for the training.
Youth between the ages of 16 and 28 can apply for the National Service created under the special initiative of President Muizzu. Furthermore, those under 18 can participate if there is no objection from the parent and if they are in full health.
The government provides a monthly allowance of MVR 6,000 to each student participating in the service.
A total of 350 students participated in the training of the first batch of the National Service, which began last October. Additionally, 350 youth also participated in the training of the second batch, which started late last January.
The target of this government is to have an additional 1,000 youth complete these trainings within this year. This is also the program to which President Muizzu currently gives the highest priority in order to produce productive youth for society.
