MVR 5,500 has been distributed per person as this year's Zakat al-Mal.

The Maldives Zakat House stated on its website that Zakat al-Mal funds have now been deposited for a total of 2,384 people registered in the registry of the poor and needy up until the first day of the month of Hajj this year.

The Zakat House noted that a total of over MVR 13.1 million has been deposited, at a rate of MVR 5,500 for each individual.

According to the Zakat House, the amount received per capita this year is an increase compared to last year. The Zakat House also stated that this is the highest per capita amount distributed as Zakat al-Mal so far.

Last year, MVR 5,000 per person was distributed as Zakat al-Mal.

Statistics show that MVR 107 million was received as Zakat al-Mal by the end of last year. This is a five percent increase compared to the preceding year. In 2024, MVR 102 million was received as Zakat al-Mal.
