Parliament has scheduled the oath-taking ceremony of former Addu Mayor Abdulla Sodiq (Sobe), who won the Hithadhoo North constituency by-election of Parliament, for next Monday.

The Parliament Secretariat Information Officer, Ahmed Maan Asad, told "Mihaaru News" that Sodiq's oath-taking ceremony as a member will take place at the Parliament on Monday morning.

Following a Supreme Court ruling which declared that the former PNC member for the Hithadhoo North constituency, Ahmed Sinan, had lost his parliamentary seat due to a proven debt, Sodiq won the by-election held last Saturday by competing against the PNC candidate with a majority of 62 votes.

Ahmed Saeed (Soda) contested against Sodiq in the by-election on behalf of the ruling PNC.

Sodiq received 1,375 votes in the election, while the PNC candidate, Saeed received 1,313 votes.
