The National Drug Agency (NDA) has announced that it is seeking a Chief Executive Officer.
In the announcement made by the agency, it stated that those interested in the position must send their application forms and educational certificates to recruitment@nda.gov.mv before 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8.
The NDA noted that if the government declares any new public holidays prior to the deadline of the announcement, application forms will be accepted for an additional number of days equal to the added holidays.
Sought for a tenure of five years, the basic salary for the CEO is MVR 23,935. Additionally, MVR 28,095 will be received as an executive allowance.
Requirements for the position:
- Having attained a qualification higher than Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of Business Administration, Public Administration, or Human Resource Management, along with at least two years of work experience at a senior management level; or;
- Having attained a Level 9 qualification of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in one of those fields, along with at least five years of work experience at a senior management level; or;
- Having attained a Level 8 qualification of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in one of those fields, along with at least seven years of work experience at a senior management level; or;
- Having attained a Level 7 qualification of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in one of those fields, along with at least 10 years of work experience at a senior management level.
The applicant must not be anyone with a court conviction for an offense with a prescribed punishment in Islam, an offense of embezzlement, an offense of bribery, any offense stated under the Act on Special Procedures for Sexual Offenders Against Children, an offense of forced sodomy/indecency, an offense of assault using a sharp object, an offense of murder, or any offense stated under the Prevention of Terrorism Act and the Drugs Act.
Last May, the NDA brought the first amendment to the governing regulations of its board, which had been implemented since 2014.
Among these changes, although the NDA board previously represented members from 10 institutions, other agencies have now been included in place of the President's Office, the Ministry of Defence, Immigration, and Customs.
The newly included representations consist of appointing a person designated by the Ministry of Social Protection from among its staff who implement those policies, appointing a staff member working on child rights protection from the government ministry mandated with child rights protection, and additionally, including a person designated by the Correctional Service from among its staff working on setting policies related to providing drug rehabilitation treatment to individuals in correctional custody.
Previously, CEOs were appointed to the NDA for a term of three years. However, that duration has now been increased to five years.
The NDA, which carries out all efforts to rehabilitate drug addicts, currently does not have a CEO. Deputy Minister Mohamed Rashid has been in charge of running the institution since July 2024. This followed the dismissal of Imad Solih, who previously held the position.
