Former Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has been appointed to a senior position at the President's Office.
According to the President's Office website, Nazim, who resigned from his ministerial position on April 14, has been appointed Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto. The post is of ministerial rank.
Nazim was appointed to this new post earlier this week.
Nazim was initially appointed Principal Secretary of Public Policy in this administration. Following changes to the cabinet, he was appointed Health Minister on September 30, 2024.
Following the ruling party's significant loss in the April 4 Local Council Elections, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced that he will bring changes to his administration in line with public preferences. Ten cabinet ministers then abruptly resigned, which included Nazim. Many of these, however, have since been given other senior government positions.
Former Local Government Minister Adam Shareef Umar has been appointed Maldives Ambassador to Qatar, while then-Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has been appointed Maldives Ambassador to UAE.
