The government is developing a plan to organize Eid celebrations in Male' and across the atolls from next year, Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said.
In a statement to the press today, Minister Shaheem said a special committee established by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has already begun work on the initiative.
According to the Minister, the programme will be implemented in consultation with local councils and with the participation of community organizations operating throughout the atolls.
Minister Shaheem said a series of major events would be held in cities and islands to mark Eid, with planning being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage.
He said the initiative aims to promote Eid celebrations in a manner that reflects Islamic values while preserving Maldivian traditions and cultural practices.
The ministry also urged the public to observe Islamic principles during Eid celebrations and to avoid activities that conflict with the country's religious values and customs.
