Police have suspended the license of the captain of a supply boat involved in a collision with a speedboat yesterday morning, and civil and criminal investigations into the incident is being pursued.
The accident involved a speedboat named Tour Guard, which had two people on board at the time of the crash.
Police said the supply boat did not stop after the collision. The failure to halt at the scene is being investigated as a separate offence, police said.

Authorities confirmed today that the supply boat captain’s licence has been withheld while investigations proceed.
Two crew members were on board the speedboat during the incident. Both sustained serious injuries and are being treated at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). They are a 38-year-old Maldivian man and a 30-year-old expatriate man.
The speedboat suffered extensive damage, with its front section completely destroyed. The extent of damage to the supply boat has not yet been confirmed.
