A expat injured in a stabbing during an altercation in Gaafu Dhaalu Gemanafushi has been transferred to Dr Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital for further treatment in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.

The injured Bangladeshi national was initially treated at the Gemanafushi Health Centre following the incident, which occurred at around 11pm last night. He was later transferred to the atoll hospital in Villingili before being moved to the hospital in Thinadhoo.

A police media official said the man is currently receiving treatment at Dr Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital.

Police have not disclosed details of the injuries or the victim's condition. However, police said an expatriate man was arrested last night near the scene of the crime in connection with the incident.

According to sources, the suspect is a Sri Lankan national.

The victim was reportedly stabbed five times in the abdomen during the altercation.

Police said that they are currently investigating the incident.
