President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today urged the public to adhere to Islamic principles while celebrating the joy of Eid al-Adha, and to stay away from practices that are foreign to the beautiful customs of Maldivians.

In his congratulatory message delivered on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the President stated that it is important to remember that this Eid teaches us to instill beautiful moral traits in the youth generation, who are the hope of tomorrow, and to view the smiles of the vulnerable and lonely within society as one's own joy.

He further stated that the noble bond of solidarity revitalized by Eid al-Adha serves as a powerful force to sustain safety and peace throughout the entire nation.

"The true essence of Eid is to adorn oneself in the pure attire of righteousness, and to renew the resolve to prioritize the path of religion and truth," the President stated in his address.

President Muizzu noted that Eid al-Adha is an Eid in which Almighty Allah has placed very significant lessons and wisdoms. He stated that it is an enduring example of compassion that aligns the entire Muslim Ummah into a single queue.

"Starting from the equality seen on the holy mount of Arafat, this joy spreading to every direction is one of the brightest symbols of human compassion. Slaughtering the Udhhiya, exchanging various gifts, and the wealthy assisting the poor and needy in various ways are things that improve the social fabric of society and renew the courage to move forward as a close-knit, cohesive community," the President said.

"At the same time, this is a season that brings life to our hearts through the cool breeze of forgiveness. It is one of the most opportune phases to nurture family love alongside parents and close relatives."
