The salaries and allowances of state employees will be paid on Thursday and Sunday, the Ministry of Finance said today.

A senior official of the ministry said salaries will be deposited on 28 and 31 May, taking into account the Eid holiday period, during which government offices remain closed.

Banks are expected to operate on those dates in line with Maldives Monetary Authority regulations.

The government has been closed since last Friday due to the Eid holiday, with offices scheduled to reopen on Sunday, 31 May, after the extended break for Alha Eid.

The official said the timing complies with state finance regulations requiring salaries to be paid within the last three days of each month.

“According to the state finance regulations, the salaries of each month should be paid within the last three days of the month. Therefore, the salaries and allowances for May will be paid on May 28 and 31,” the official said.

“We give that assurance.”
