President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the issue of medicine shortage in the country will be resolved in the coming two months. 

He said that a 'huge, positive change' will be brought to the issue in the coming months. 

In efforts to address the issue, the government established the State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation (StatePharma) in September last year. 

Speaking on a State TV PSM program, 'Nation Chat', President Muizzu said that StatePharma is undertaking several efforts simultaneously to swiftly resolve the issue of medicine shortage. 

Special priority is being given to establish a system under which uninterrupted availability of medicine can be ensured for persons who need to take long-term medication, the President noted. 

The positive results of the current efforts will be felt by June or July, the President estimates. 

"A huge change will be brought. StatePharma, established for this reason, has already undertaken significant efforts. Things will improve immensely by June/July," the President assured. 

Medicine and medical consumables needed in the country were imported by STO to date. Although StatePharma was established last year, the company is expected to become fully operational by July this year. During this period, all STO pharmacies will also be transferred to StatePharma.
