The Member of Parliament for the Hulhudhoo constituency, Mohamed Shahid, has stated that there is no discontent whatsoever within the parliamentary group of the ruling party, PNC, and that they remain very steadfast with the government.

Shahid made the remarks amid rumors that there are differences of opinion within the PNC PG. In that regard, rumors have circulated that some members are dissatisfied because of moves to dismiss the Deputy Speaker of the People's Majlis, Ahmed Nazim, from his post.

Responding to those talks, Shahid stated that the assurance he gives to the 77,000 members of the PNC is that the party's PG stands with the government with great sincerity and loyalty. Shahid said that they also remain steadfast in electing President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for a second term.

"There is no kind of dissatisfaction or discontent among us," Shahid said.

The Member of Parliament for the Baarah constituency, Ibrahim Shujau, also stated that the PNC parliamentary members will pass a no-confidence vote against Nazim. However, Shujau said that no PNC member would side with Nazim.

Shujau further stated that Nazim would not leave the PNC either.

"I want to tell the MDP leaders who are struggling to digest this that there is no need for you to involve yourselves in things like this," Shujau said.

Shujau said that if a person holding a position in the PNC parliamentary group is deemed to have lost confidence, passing it accordingly is how the system works. Shujau stated that no matter which position a person holds, if that individual loses the confidence of the PNC parliamentary group, the 75 members of the PNC will not have confidence in them either.

"There will be no member in our party who will go with someone who has lost confidence," Shujau said.

Shujau spoke these words while heavily criticizing the former President Mohamed Nasheed, who is contesting for the position of MDP Chairperson. Nasheed has stated that a number of PNC members had worked alongside Nazim to pass a no-confidence motion against President Muizzu.

Furthermore, Nasheed states that they have given indications that some PNC members will support the joint efforts being carried out by Nasheed and two former presidents, Abdulla Yameen and Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
