Students from Meemu atoll Veyvah School participated for the first time in O'Level exams this year. Two students from the batch have achieved remarkable success, making it to the National Top Tens. 

Ali Naeem, Principal of Veyvah School with 63 students currently enrolled said that the school had previously only taught up to Grade 7. 

Although the school had attempted previously to teach up to Grade 10, they did not have the required number of student enrollments to meet Education Ministry criteria, he said. 

"After finishing Grade 7, students go to Mulah School to study in higher grades. When we started noticing disciplinary issues during travel between the islands and when they come back to the island for interval, we once again requested the ministry to set up classes till Grade 10 here on the island," the Principal said. 

With this, Grade 8 lessons were introduced three years ago, with this first batch having completed O' Level exams this year. 

Of the ten students in this batch, two have made it to the National Top Tens, ranking eighth and tenth. 

Travel between Veyvah and Mulah takes approximately 5 minutes. The ministry has arranged a speedboat for student transfers between the islands. 

The Principal highlighted that now, the school's enrolment, along with the island's population, is gradually rising.
