The Chefs Guild of Maldives (CGM) represented the Maldives at the highly anticipated WorldChefs Congress & Expo 2026, which took place from May 16th to 19th, 2026 in Newport, Wales. 

CGM stated that during the congress, key discussions were carried out regarding keynote addresses by Michelin-starred chefs, workshops teaching various skills, co-learning sessions, and shifts occurring within the culinary field alongside global changes. 

The WorldChefs Congress is a biennial international event that brings together chefs to exchange knowledge, share innovations, and strengthen professional networks within the global culinary industry.

Noting that the finals of "The Global Chefs Challenge" cooking competition were also carried out during the conference, CGM stated that participants had qualified for the competition by competing in regional semi-finals held last year.

CGM also noted that Maldives participates in such competitions because it facilitates the objective of bringing together chefs from across the globe to network and learn new things from one another.

The Chefs Guild stated that the association's target is to facilitate the participation of young Maldivian chefs in the 2028 World Chefs Congress to be held in the French capital, Paris.

CGM is the first and only non-profit NGO established to represent chefs working in the Maldives.
