The vaccination clinic Dhamanaveshi is set to close from next Thursday, with employees being reassigned to other health facilities.

An employee speaking with Mihaaru News said that officials from the Health Ministry and Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital visited the clinic on Sunday and instructed staff to choose between two transfer locations within less than 24 hours.

Staff were reportedly given the option of transferring either to the GP Clinic in Hulhumale' Phase Two or the Urban Primary Health Care Centre infront of Rasfannu in Male'.

Employees said they were told that if no decision was submitted by 2 pm, the human resources department would assign placements on their behalf.

“They told us to decide before 2 pm today. If we don’t, HR will decide for themselves. But how can such a decision be made in such a short time?” one employee said.

Several staff members expressed dissatisfaction with the abrupt changes, saying their family arrangements and children’s education schedules had been planned around the clinic’s working hours. Others said the uncertainty had caused significant emotional stress.

Dhamanaveshi currently operates on weekdays from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with on-call staff covering weekends and public holidays.

Sources say that the government is planning to merge Dhamanaveshi with the Thalassaemia Centre as part of plans to establish a broader GP clinic.
