The government of Saudi Arabia announced tonight that the moon for this year's month of Hajj was sighted in the country tonight, making tomorrow the first day of the month of Hajj.
Saudi Arabia stated in an announcement that since the moon for the month of Dhul Hijjah was sighted tonight, tomorrow is the first day of this year's month of Hajj. Therefore, Saudi Arabia stated that the Day of Arafah will be the 26th of May and the day of Eid al-Adha (Bodu Eid) will be the 27th of May.
Tomorrow was also marked as the first day of the month of Dhul Hijjah in the Hijri calendar. The calendar also states that the Day of Arafah will be the 26th of this month and the 27th will be Eid al-Adha.
Two groups of Maldivian pilgrims traveling for the Hajj pilgrimage from the Maldives this year have now arrived in Saudi Arabia. The remaining two groups will depart for Saudi Arabia tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
This year, as well, 1,000 people from the Maldives are traveling for the Hajj pilgrimage.
