MTCC announced today that since the Male' Taxi Line introduced fares, the service has had over 13,000 bookings.

The Male' Taxi line service was introduced with 150 cars. They provide service around the clock at the latest rates announced for trips between Male, Hulhule' and Hulhumale' by the Transport Ministry.

MTCC said today that the Male' Taxi line had been launched with the purpose of providing safe, reliable and convenient taxi services in the Male' area.

MTCC publicized statistics of service provided by the taxi line from April 18 to May 9. As per this, the taxi line had a total of 13,073 bookings in the duration.

This demonstrates the rising demand for the service, MTCC said.

According to MTCC, 9,550 customers used the service in that period. The highest numbers of bookings were within Male', coming to 9,395 trips.

Another 1,966 trips were in Hulhumale' Phase 1, while 1,283 were in Hulhumale' Phase 2.

The service also conducted 429 trips to Velana International Airport (Hulhule') during this period.

Although the service was initially designed to offer service through a mobile app when launched on April 2, security issues led to the app being taken down. After this, the service was first offered free of charge for initially a week, with a later extension by an additional week due to delays in fixing the app.

Since April 18, fares were introduced with a web-based application for payments, as well as a payment QR code. Bookings are still to be made through the hotline 1655.
