The Parliamentary Group of ruling People's National Congress (PNC) decided earlier today to remove Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim from the post of Deputy Speaker, and has now gathered sufficient signatures to do so. 

It has been reported that the PNC PG Group had a meeting earlier today where they decided to oust Nazim from the Deputy Speaker post. 

A PG Group member told Mihaaru News that the required number of signatures has also been collected now. 

As per the parliament regulations, a speaker can be removed through a motion submitted with the signatures of at least one-fourth of total number of MPs, which comes to a minimum of 24 MPs. 

While the current parliament has 93 MPs, 76 of them are from ruling PNC.
