A woman who suffered a heart attack after seeing her son's injuries in an altercation in Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo has passed away today.
Residents said the 69-year-old collapsed on the way to hospital last Friday after witnessing blood from her son’s injuries on the road following the incident.
Her son was initially treated at the island’s health facility before being transferred to Male' for further medical care.
An official from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) confirmed that the woman, who had been brought from Rasdhoo after suffering the heart attack, died at 8:39 am.
According to residents, the injured man had been involved in a fight with a Chinese national who operates a guesthouse in Rasdhoo.
The altercation reportedly left him with injuries to his face and other parts of his body.
He was transferred to Male' alongside his mother for treatment and has since been discharged from hospital.
