Adhadhu journalist Mohamed Shahzan has been ordered to appear in court tomorrow for having asked a question related to the video documentary released by the news outlet, despite a standing court order prohibiting any discussion on the matter.

The Criminal Court order explicitly instructed that the video documentary released by "Adhadhu" news must not be circulated within the community and that no content within the documentary should be discussed, either directly or indirectly.

This order was issued following a request from the state after Qazf (false accusation of adultery or fornication) charges were filed against Adhadhu CEO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa and editor Hassan Mohamed.

However, during a press conference held by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today, Shahzan posed a question regarding the matter. Stating that Shahzan had violated the court order, the President ordered him to leave the hall. He was subsequently removed from the premises with the assistance of security personnel.

Consequently, following a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office to investigate the matter, Shahzan was notified tonight to appear at the Criminal Court tomorrow afternoon for a hearing regarding contempt of court.

In addition to Shahzan’s summons, journalist Leeval Ali Naseer, who wrote the news report on yesterday's Criminal Court order, has also been ordered to appear in court tomorrow.

Previously, Fiyaz and Hassan were also summoned to the police on allegations of Qazf. However, both decided to remain silent during the investigation stage, asserting that protecting sources is a constitutionally guaranteed right.
