Following a case involving more than seven kilograms of narcotics imported into Maldives by air, more drugs were discovered during searches of apartments linked to three individuals who have been arrested.
The police website stated that the operation began last Tuesday, after Customs seized more than seven kilograms of drugs from a flight that arrived the previous day and handed them over to the police to locate the suspects.
In connection with the case involving allegations of importing, possessing, using, and trafficking narcotics into the Maldives, the following individuals were arrested:
- Abdulla Raif, 27, Hiyaavahi, L. Kalaidhoo
- MD Joshim Uddin, 43 - Bangladesh
- Mamun Dali, 32 - Bangladesh
When they were brought before the court to decide on their remand, an order was issued to detain Raif for three days and the two Bangladeshi nationals for 15 days.
The police stated that while searching two apartments in Malé during this operation, more than 13 kilograms of drugs were also found.
Including the more than seven kilograms of drugs handed over by Customs, a total of more than 21 kilograms of narcotics have been seized in this operation.
