Male' City Council has announced that they are seeking a party to carry out the relocation of the Male' Mortuary from its current location at Galolhu Cemetery to the Hulhumale' Cemetery Mosque. 

The announcement seeks a contractor to build a new mortuary on the grounds of the Hulhumale' Cemetery Mosque. 

Information regarding the project is to be given at 10am on May 10 at the Male' City Council hall. Bid proposals are to be submitted at 1:30pm on May 14, also at the Male' City Council hall. 

Late submissions will not be accepted, the council stated. 

Maldivian companies, partnerships, and those with permits for local investment or trade are eligible to participate in the bid. 

The mortuary at Galolhu Cemetery was opened in 1975. Initially, the mortuary could only accommodate two bodies at a time. The capacity has since been increased to six. 

The city council has previously said that mortuary is being relocated to Hulhumale' for the purpose of expanding capacity.
