President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated today that the Maldives is not looking [only] inward in its efforts to completely transform its situation, but seeks the participation of neighbors and international partners in that endeavor.

Speaking at the "Maldives-Sri Lanka Business Forum" held for Sri Lankan businesses during his ongoing official visit to the country, the President said the Maldives hopes for neighbors and international partners to participate in making the Indian Ocean region a more prosperous, better connected, and resilient place.

He stated that the Maldives is open not only for business but is actively participating in shaping the future of progress achieved through technology.

Citing Google’s "Dhivar" investment in the Maldives as an example, President Muizzu said the Maldives is open to partnerships that shape the future for both parties.

"The transformation we are seeking is not a change that looks inward toward the Maldives; we hope that the neighbors and international partners present here today will participate in making the Indian Ocean region more connected, more resilient, and more prosperous," the President said.

He noted that Sri Lanka is one of the most important partners in the development journey of the Maldives. He mentioned that Sri Lankan businesses already play a significant role in Maldivian tourism.

The President added that there are good opportunities in the Maldives for these businesses, including international companies operating in Sri Lanka.

"Therefore, I invite all of you to work with us in infrastructure development and to join us in sustainable tourism projects," President Muizzu said.

He also called for participation in expanding sectors such as digital innovation and food security.
