The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed today that 107 dengue cases were reported over the past ten days, of which 57.94 percent (62 cases) were in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi.
Dengue cases have been seeing an exponential rise this year.
Data shared by the HPA shows that over the past two weeks, the highest number of cases were reported from Kulhudhuffushi.
Kulhudhuffushi reported 62 dengue cases, while the disease is next most prevalent in Sh. Milandhoo, which has recorded 17 cases, followed by GDh. Thinadhoo with 16 cases.
Kulhudhuffushi and Thinadhoo both have Regional Hospitals, to which may residents of the atoll visit for healthcare. It is unclear whether the numbers reported by HPA are cases detected on the island alone, or including cases from nearby islands who had gone to the Regional Hospital for treatment.

According to HPA, over 2000 dengue cases have been reported so far this year. This is a marked increase compared to last year's figures. Only 373 dengue cases were reported in the same period last year.
HPA data shows that 679 dengue cases were recorded in January, and another 428 cases in February. March numbers rose to 601 cases, with it further spiking to 635 in April.
