Police have stated that they are treating the case of arson where Sh. Foakaidhoo Police Station In-Charge's motorcycle was set on fire as a serious offence. 

The motorcycle had been parked outside the residence of the Foakaidhoo Police Station In-Charge's house when it was set alight at around 10:30pm on Monday night. 

In a statement released today, Police said that the act had been a deliberate attack against the island's Police In-Charge. 

The incident left the motorcycle damaged beyond use. The fire also caused damage to the gate of the officer's residence.   

Police said they are investigating the case and assured that the perpetrators will be identified and prosecuted. 

Police said it strongly condemns acts of intimidation against law enforcement officers, adding that it views the incident as an attempt to undermine efforts to ensure public safety.
