President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated that the government's approach to advancing labour and safeguarding the rights of local and expatriate workers across all sectors is both comprehensive and equitable. 

In his International Workers' Day address today, the President said that the government is prioritizing vocational education, noting the establishment of the first vocational high school and expanded training programmes in key development sectors. 

He added that grants and concessional loans for skills development have increased, and early results are emerging from efforts to link Maldivian products with major e-commerce platforms. 

The President went on to note that the government has introduced stronger measures to regulate expatriate workers and is working on enforcing job categories reserved for Maldivians. 

President Muizzu also highlighted initiatives to improve job access for persons with disabilities, allow continued employment beyond 65 years of age, and address long-standing labour concerns following extensive engagement with workers. 

The President appealed for public cooperation in the government's employment initiatives and encouraged all capable citizens to participate actively in national development.
