Hihthan Maizan Park, located opposite the National Museum, has reopened following renovation.

The park, centered around a protected flame tree believed to be more than two centuries old, had been closed since 2024 for refurbishment.

According to Male' City mayor Adam Azim, the site was leased to Gold Company Pvt Ltd for MVR 2,000 per month, with the firm responsible for maintaining the area using its own resources.

The lease agreement, originally signed for 10 years during the tenure of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in his capacity as Male' Mayor, which had been shut for repairs was reopened on Tuesday night.

The park reopened with new additions including food trucks offering takeaway options and a dedicated play area for children.
