The opposition on Sunday filed a motion at the Supreme Court to impeach President Abdulla Yameen, who is under fire over multiple graft allegations.

Former president Mohamed Nasheed announced in a tweet that he had filed the corruption case jointly with former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Jumhoory Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, and Adhaalath Party's deputy leader Ali Zahir.

"We requested [the Supreme Court] to impeach [President Yameen]," he said.

The opposition has not disclosed further details on the case yet.
