In the latest hearing in the case against Saahil Ali, charged in the brutal killing of a young woman in a Male' residence, the prosecution has presented three knives and a number of clothing items to the Criminal Court as material evidence. 

Shiau Mohamed Saeed of Fuvahmulah City was killed in a Male' residence in August 2022. Investigators later determined that her body had been mutilated after death. The State has pressed five different charges against Saahil, of Finifenmaage, F. Nilandhoo.

While hearings in the case are held closed, the Criminal Court said that the material evidence was presented and discussed in today's hearing.

The Prosecutor General's Office stated that they had presented three knives Saahil is accused of having used in the attack, a t-shirt and a pair of shorts worn by Saahil, and three items of clothing used by Shiau.

Although summary statements were initially scheduled for today, the court said it instead granted Saahil's request to review in-court-only evidence, and postponed the statements to a later hearing. 

Saahil is facing five separate charges in relation to this case. However, the charges have also been kept confidential. 

On April 14, Saahil was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of two out of the five charges.
