The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare stated tonight that special attention needs to be paid towards mental health and that they are working with professionals to strengthen the temporary and permanent services offered in the industry.

As suicide rates have gone up recently, the statement from the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare reads that they are deeply concerned with the recent tragic incidents that have been occurring regarding psychological matters. And so, the ministry has appealed during such a time, to be sympathetic towards one another and act in a responsible manner towards each other.

The ministry went on to say that they believe mental health is an issue that needs special attention now. With that, they also said that they are working with professionals and relevant institutions to strengthen the temporary and permanent services that are offered.

The ministry has given its assurance that they will continue to work to establish a stable system where sustainable help can be provided to the community.

As per the statement, the stories circulating on social media and information that is shared will be traumatic to those who have existing mental health issues and to the families that are affected.

During such a time, the ministry has appealed to the public and the media to refrain from spreading false information, scenes that may cause a deep sadness or information that has not yet been confirmed.

"Instead, please prioritize being there for one another and giving hope, and send messages that you will lend a helping hand," as was written in the statement.

"We encourage families, friends and the community as a whole to check in on each other, to not discriminate and to care for one another. Listening to someone attentively as they tell you something or acts of kindness has the power to save someone's life."

The ministry has requested anyone who is experiencing loneliness or mental health difficulties to contact the mental health hotline, 1677, and to seek help.
