During today's Friday sermon, it was said that it is forbidden in the Islamic faith to reveal a person's intimate parts and get waxed at salons in front of non-mahrams, defined as someone with whom marriage is permitted with.

Today's sermon in Maldives was focused on cleanliness and decorations/adornments. 

The sermon highlighted that one of the main fundamentals in the life of a Muslim is cleanliness, with a person needing to be clean when praying and reading the Quran.

Along with one's body and the clothes they wear, keeping the environment a person lives in clean is a noble act of worship that grants the approval of God, and only keeping one's physical appearance clean while harboring dark thoughts is the same as having a house that is beautiful on the outside but dirty on the inside.

The sermon stated that with modern advancements, there is concern that some people had been stepping away from the standards of the faith in the name of beautification, and that dangerous acts take place due to this as well.

"One of the most dangerous things is going to salons and getting waxed or getting laser treatments after exposing your intimate areas to people who are not permitted to see as such. This is not allowed in our faith. It is not permitted unless it concerns a medical issue or an essential matter. Beauty and cleanliness should be pursued while being distant from forbidden acts," as was said during the sermon.

The sermon also stated that the main purpose of the hijab when dressing oneself is to cover one's body. To wear a hijab so that it exposes one's ears and neck, and to wear tight clothing that reveals one's curves is a habit of ignorant times. The sermon also called for men to cover themselves when playing sports and in daily life.

While tending to pillars of prayer, wearing clothing that reveals one's body will invalidate the prayer, as was said in the sermon.
