Reem Zahir has been named among the 100 Young Leaders by the Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Trust, placing her among a new generation of changemakers across the Commonwealth.

A Maldivian social impact leader, Reem is the co-founder of FEM Health Maldives, an NGO focused on advancing women’s health, reproductive rights and community wellbeing.

With a background in architecture, Reem brings more than a decade of experience to her work, combining technical expertise with advocacy.

She is also a recipient of the President’s Badge; one of the highest honors in youth development in Maldives.

In 2026, Reem was selected for the QECT 100 Young Leaders Award, in recognition of her work driving social change and empowering women in Maldives.

Announcing the cohort, the Trust said the initiative marks what would have been the 100th birthday of its founding patron, Queen Elizabeth II, and honours her belief in the power of young people to strengthen communities and shape a more inclusive future.

Selected from thousands of applicants, the 100 awardees are leading efforts across sectors including education and employability, environment, food and agriculture, health, and inclusion.
