Due to maintenance work on the roof of the Terminal 2 pedestrian crossing, the road between the harbor and Velana International Airport (VIA) Terminal 2 will be temporarily closed.
As per a statement released by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), as maintenance work on the roof of the Terminal 2 pedestrian crossing is set to begin tomorrow, the road will be closed from 23rd April 2026 until 30th April 2026 every night from 12:00am to 5:00am. The company also said that there will be changes to the traffic flow due to this.
Changes to the traffic flow as per the statement
- Taxis transporting passengers to both the International and Domestic Terminals must drop off passengers at Terminal 1, and Departure Gates 1 and 2. The Terminal 2 taxi stop will be closed during these hours.
- MTCC buses will exclusively use the West Parking internal bus stop for boarding and alighting passengers.
- Internal Bus Route 1 (starting from ATC) will terminate at Terminal 1 Arrival Gate 1. Additionally, trips heading towards the Water Supply area, (Route 2) will commence from the roundabout near Terminal 2.
MACL stated that even with this change, there will be no changes to the airport's bus schedule. The only change, as per the company, is the change to the bus route between 12:00am to 5:00am every night until the maintenance work finishes on 30th April 2026.
