The Court has extended remand by 12 days of the man arrested on suspicion of selling child sexual abuse photos and videos using cryptocurrency.  

The accused is Adam Adhlan Latheef, 22, of Moonimaage, Th. Vilufushi. 

Adhlan was initially remanded for 15 days. As remand expired yesterday, the court ruled to hold him in custody for an additional 12 days, Police said.  

Police have earlier said that he was arrested following a tip-off that he was using a wallet on Binance to trade child pornography. The ensuing investigation traced transactions to his crypto account, Police said. 

Forensic analysis of electronic devices seized from him uncovered a large quantity of child pornographic images and videos, including material depicting the sexual abuse of children.
