A 21-year-old youth has passed away after drowning while fishing in L. Hithadhoo.

Police stated that information was reported to them at approximately 3:30 PM today regarding a person drowning while out in the sea to catch fish in Hithadhoo.

Police further noted that the health center had informed them the individual was already deceased when brought to the island's health center.

The deceased has been identified as Ahmed Hamzan, 21, of Amaan, L. Hithadhoo.

Police are currently investigating this matter.
