On the occasion of it's 99th anniversary, Majeedhiya School - Maldives' longest running school - has launched a new website and YouTube channel. 

The website and YouTube channel were inaugurated by Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu at a special assembly held at the school this morning. 

The new website, www.majeediyya.edu.mv, shows latest information about the school, its history, and current school activities. 

The assembly also saw the release of a book titled "Majeedhiyya Moments". 

The book is set to be an annual release going forward, including photos and information of various school activities and special occasions.

As part of its anniversary celebrations, the school is also organizing a blood donation drive and programs to spend time with elderly persons. 

Speaking at a special assembly held at the school, Minister Shafeeu said the institution regarded as the starting point of formal education in the Maldives should set the standard as the sector adapts to a new technological era.

The minister announced that to mark the school's 100th anniversary next year, the parking area to the west of the school is now being removed, and work has commenced to develop a special monument there symbolizing the school's 100 years. 

Majeediyya School was the first to introduce the international curriculum in the country. It started with a total of 60 students enrolled, growing to now accommodate over 1,300 students. 

After remaining a boys-only school for several decades, it was made co-educational in 2011. The school now teaches both primary and secondary grades.
