After 2 free weeks, Male' Taxi line begins fares

The government-run Male' Taxi line has begun charging for rides effective today after having provided free service for the past two weeks.

The government-run Male' Taxi line has begun charging for rides effective today after having provided free service for the past two weeks. 

MTCC said today that payments can be made for rides through either their website or the publicized QR code. 

However, taxi bookings are still accepted only via their hotline, 1655.

MTCC said that Male' Taxi line aspires to provide reliable, safe and pleasant service to the public. 

The Male' Taxi line services were launched on April 2. Initially, the company planned to offer the service free of charge for the first week. It was later extended to one more week. 

The Male' Taxi line will be provided through a digital booking system. The company has also arranged online payment platforms with the fares now introduced, the company said. 

The service uses three different types of cars:

  • Lumin: for trips within Male'
  • Deepal S5: for trips between Male', Hulhumale' and Velana International Airport
  • Deepal S7: for trips with four passengers
