The Academic Excellence Award from Malaysia's Islamic University (IUM) has been awarded to Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem's son Abdulla Maahil Shaheem.

Minister Shaheem took to Facebook regarding Maahil's achievement, stating that Maahil had acquired a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and International Relations from IUM.

Minister Shaheem stated that Maahil, who has achieved the Faculty Academic Excellence Award, was also nominated for IUM's Rector Award.

Minister Shaheem went on to say that Maahil's results bring pride to his family and to Maldives.

IUM's Excellence Award is an award that acknowledges a student's skills, determination, the reputation students receive from their academic results, brings honor to the university, the student's ability to take the initiative, and recognizes the participation of students in various activities and educational programs.

The award is presented to students who achieved the right to an honorary status in regards to their results.
