The Minister of Infrastructure, Urban and Housing Development Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has stated that plots that have been given to Male' citizens under the previous government's housing scheme will be handed over as land gets reclaimed and that the plots will be registered once land reclamation is done.
While answering a question from North Galolhu constituency and MDP member Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu) during today's Parliament session, the minister said that lots have already been drawn for the Giraavaru Falhu Land Use Plan, with the plan having been publicized as well. However, the minister said that the plots have not been registered yet as the land has not been completely reclaimed.
"The registrations will be drafted and work on handing over the plots will commence once the land has been completely reclaimed," said Muththalib.
According to Muththalib, more than 100 plots for Hulhumale' Phase 3 have already been handed over, with the handover process starting after the land was fully reclaimed. The minister also said that the plots that were changed from Giraavaru Falhu to Gulhi Falhu under the previous government's plot handover have been handed over as well. As Muththalib stated, the change took place as there would not have been enough space on the reclaimed land to accommodate the 5,000 plots that were allocated by the previous government.
Muththalib went on to say that the Giraavaru Falhu reclamation project will reach completion by the end of May, and that work to hand over the plots and registration efforts will begin once the reclamation is done.
"It has been made known that we have begun the handover for the plots as the reclamation of Hulhumale' Phase 3 came to an end. More than 100 plots have been handed over. We will conduct a survey, draft the registrations and conduct the handovers in one go once Giraavaru Falhu has been reclaimed, hopefully by 31st May," as was said by Muththalib.
As per the ministry, 125 plots have been designated at Hulhumale' Phase 3 as of yet, with the plots having been handed over. 169 plots from Gulhi Falhu have also been handed over.
451 of the new agreements for Hulhumale' Phase 3 plots have been signed, with 2,972 of the new agreements for the Gulhi Falhu plots having been signed as well.
