Police have said that a teacher at Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll School is currently hospitalized after having been assaulted by a student. 

Reports of a student having attacked a female, Indian teacher at the school was received at 11:46am today, Police said. 

The teacher was initially treated at the Gahdhoo health centre, but has since been transferred to the Dr AbduSamad Memorial Hospital in GDh. Thinadhoo for further treatment. 

Police said that relevant authorities are looking into the incident, but declined from providing any further details. 

Unconfirmed reports say that the student assaulted the teacher after she asked them not to play video games during a computer class.
