Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) Deputy Chairperson Ibrahim Waheed (Iburey) and Legal Director Ahmed Mauroof have been reinstated today. 

The two were summarily dismissed during the recent internal rifts within the party. 

The reinstatement of Waheed and Mauroof was announced at tonight's MDP National Council meeting by Interim Chairperson Abdul Ghafoor Moosa (Gapo). 

In response to Ghafoor's dismissal of Waheed and Mauroof, a 55-signature petition was submitted by MDP members seeking to hold a no-confidence vote against him. 

Former Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail announced tonight that discussions amongst the leadership to resolve the internal disputes had led to the decision to withdraw the no-confidence motion against Ghafoor.
