Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) Parliamentary Group has today requested a meeting with the members of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), saying the commission has failed to fulfill its legal duty to promote integrity and anti-corruption values in society.

A letter from MDP, addressed to ACC President Adam Shaamil, states that the commission has fallen short of its legal duty to ensure a society grounded in integrity and anti-corruption values.

The letter further expressed concern that the ACC has failed to take impartial action against those involved in corruption, to shape State affairs in ways that prevent such acts, and to strengthen necessary systems.

With this, the MDP's Parliamentary Group appealed for a meeting with the ACC members to be granted at the earliest opportunity.
