MTCC has commenced work on reclaiming 11 hectares of land in Th. Gaadhiffushi. 

In a post on X, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced that the work is expected to be completed within 10 days. He said that the Filippo Brunelleschi dredger is being used in the project. 

The land reclamation and shore protection project in Th. Gaadhiffushi was contracted to MTCC on September 26 last year. 

Under the project, 11.02 hectares of land will be reclaimed for the island. Revetment will be installed along a 704-meter stretch, and a 100-meter groyne will also be built. In addition, a 100-meter outer sea wall will be constructed. 

Gaadhiffushi has a population of 730, who are facing housing difficulties as the population grows.
