The Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) stated today that students can personally apply to obtain the recognition letter required before traveling abroad for studies.

In a statement released by the authority, it noted that before going abroad to study, it is important to obtain a "Recognition of the Intended Program" letter to ensure that the program aligns with the Maldives National Qualifications Framework.

The agency stated that students can submit applications for this letter themselves, but it has been noted that some third parties are obtaining the documents and charging students large sums in fees.

MQA said that students who obtain services through a third party have faced significant losses. Among these, complaints have been received that some students' "student visas" were not settled, preventing them from participating in classes.

"While loan opportunities are open throughout the entire year, we inform you that one can apply for this letter personally without going through a third party, and that this service is one provided by this Authority without charging any fee," the statement said.

The agency mentioned that applications for the letter can be submitted via email or by visiting the Authority in person.
