The Maldivian man who went missing after a boat travelling from Male' to GA. Villin'gili sank late last night has now been rescued.

He was found adrift on a wooden pallet.

Police said that the 'Udhares' boat ran aground a reef near L. Olhuveli and started taking on water and sank.

There were 13 people on board the vessel at the time. One of these individuals was reported missing.

MNDF launched a search for the missing man last night right after the incident was reported.

An MNDF media official said that the missing man, now identified as Ismail Afeef, was found adrift at sea on a wooden pallet. The elderly man was found alive, but MNDF not yet revealed his condition.

A Police media official said that the man had been spotted by the crew of a supply boat travelling in the area.

Afeef is now under treatment at the L. Gan Regional Hospital, according to Police.

Of the 13 on board, one foreigner swam to nearby Olhuveli. The remaining 11 individuals were rescued by a boat from the resort, Police said earlier.

This includes two Maldivians and nine foreigners. All 12 who were rescued are in good health.

Police said that they received reports of the incident at 1:25am today.

Police cautioned travellers in the area to remain alert, as goods from the sunken boat are drifting west of Olhuveli.
