MACL has completed the reclamation of 25 hectares of land in Th. Veymandoo in 23 days.

In a post on X, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced that the work, commenced on March 12, was completed last Saturday.

MACL used one of the world's largest trailing suction hopper dredgers, the FILIPPO BRUNELLESCHI, for the project. 

In a visit to Veymandoo in September last year, President Muizzu emphasized that expanding land area on the island is key for the island's development, and reiterated that land reclamation in Veymandoo was a presidential campaign pledge. 

"Under the agreement signed tonight, 25 hectares of land will be reclaimed for the island. God willing, the project will be launched soon, and will proceed without halt," the President told residents of Veymandoo on September 24, 2025.
