In yesterday's Local Council Elections, ruling People's National Congress (PNC) failed to win a single seat in the Fuvahmulah City Council. 

All except one seat on the Fuvahmulah City Council was won by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). 

In yesterday's Local Council Elections, 8 councilors and a mayor was elected for Fuvahmulah. 

As per preliminary results received as of now, Fuvahmulah's incumbent Mayor, MDP's Ismail Rafeeq, has secured re-election by a wide margin. 

MDP also won all seven council seats that they contested for. 

In Fuvahmulah, the only constituency MDP did not contest in is Dhadimagu. This seat was won by an independent candidate who defeated the PNC candidate, who was a member of the outgoing council. 

With this, the Fuvahmulah City Council is the only council where the ruling party does not hold even a single seat. 

In the Women's Development Committee, MDP won 7 out of 9 seats. The remaining two seats went to a PNC candidate and an independent candidate. 

The outgoing Fuvahmulah City Council has two PNC council members.
