President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has just designated the next two days as government holidays.

In a directive signed and issued by Chief of Staff Abdulla Fayaz, it was stated that President Muizzu has arranged for tomorrow (Sunday) and the following Monday to be government holidays.

This arrangement was made because today's voting, which includes the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections, as well as the referendum to decide on holding Presidential and Parliamentary elections on the same day, involves various election-related tasks and the participation of a large number of state institution and civil service employees.

The directive noted that the Elections Commission (EC) had requested tomorrow be a government holiday, and because important post-election work is scheduled to take place, the EC also requested the following Monday be a government holiday.

Therefore, the President's Office directive stated that these two days have been settled as government holidays.
