A home in Alifushi, Raa Atoll, was destroyed by fire this afternoon.

The house, reportedly occupied by a couple, caught fire due to an electrical short, according to an MNDF media official speaking to Mihaaru News.

The blaze was brought under control by local residents and the Naifaru Fire Station. No injuries were reported.

The island council could not be reached for comment.

Photos circulating on social media show the house completely burnt to the ground.
